50 Years of Sholay – A Tribute Through Art
Sholay is not just a movie — it’s an emotion. We’ve grown up watching this masterpiece. We know every character, every iconic line, and every single song by heart. It’s the kind of film that’s lived in our homes, our hearts, and even our WhatsApp forwards.
Whether it's quoting "Kitne aadmi the?" for a laugh or singing "Yeh dosti" at karaoke or antakshari, Sholay has become a part of our everyday life. It’s hard to count how many generations have enjoyed and celebrated this film — and it all began with its record-breaking release in 1975.
Now, as we approach the 50th anniversary of its making on August 15, 2025, I felt a deep urge to pay tribute in my own way — as an artist and a fan.
Out of love and huge respect for the legends behind it, Salim-Javed, for their unforgettable writing, Ramesh Sippy for his visionary direction, R.D. Burman for the timeless music, and the entire stellar cast — I’ve created a series of artworks celebrating the most iconic dialogues and moments from the film.
This series isn’t just nostalgia — it’s a love letter to a movie that defined Indian cinema, and a way to share that magic with new generations.
